Unlike many areas of the country, Monroe County has more than enough water to satisfy current and future needs. Our water source, Lake Ontario, and the other Great Lakes contain 20% of the world’s fresh water!
Temporary Water Options
Do you need a temporary water source for your home or business? Monroe County Water Authority offers customers and contractors different options to access temporary water service for filling water trucks, providing water to construction sites or fulfilling other temporary water needs.
Option #1 – Fill Stations
Monroe County Water Authority offers eight different truck filling stations. This option is for the purpose of filling water transportation vehicles to be used for construction or landscape-type work and not for bulk water haulers.

Option #2 – Temporary Hydrant Use with Meter & Backflow Prevention Device
This option is intended for irrigation, construction or bulk water haulers regulated by the NYS Department of Health.

Please note, unauthorized hydrant use is illegal and poses a threat to public health and safety. All hydrant operation must be performed by the Monroe County Water Authority, with the exception of firefighters.
